The Milan Local Committee was founded in 1995 when, during the first Gulf War, a group of volunteersə took action to provide medical care for embargoed Iraqi children at Niguarda Hospital, set up a medical dispensary in Basra and set up a school twinning scheme with Baghdad. After suspending its activities for a few years, it resumes them on the occasion of the youth uprisings in Iraq in October 2019. He decided to join the local Monza committee, created the previous year. Immediately involved with a vast network of local associations, the Milan and Monza Committee is particularly active in organising non-formal education workshops dedicated to young people, children and teenagers in schools and parishes in the territorial suburbs. In close collaboration with the networks of local associations, it adheres to and supports campaigns, protests, mobilisations and initiatives to raise awareness of peace, non-violence and respect for rights.
