Un Ponte Per ETS (UPP) is a volunteer association for international solidarity founded in 1991, immediately after the Iraqi war, by dedicated activists and pacifists from many different backgrounds, with the goal of continuing the campaign against the Gulf War and launching a new form of pacifism.

The association has been working ever since to prevent further conflict through information campaigns, Civil Peace Corps and international cooperation projects, in close collaboration with local Civil Society Organisations.

Solidarity projects and initiatives in Italy are implemented by volunteers through a network of Local Committees and thematic working groups which develop public information and awareness-raising activities, training and peace education programmes in schools and fund-raising events in support of solidarity programmes.

Every year, association members gather for the National Assembly in one of the Local Committee towns: this is a vital opportunity for debate and discussion, with the election of company officers, a budget review and elaboration of long-term action plans.

Work carried out by association members and volunteers on a regional and national basis is just as important, and Un Ponte Per promotes awareness-raising action campaigns and concrete condemnations of various issues.

Today, the association has around 400 members and 8 Local Committees in Italian towns.
